5.5 - Mounting Servos

(By Bill Pickl)
There are three general guidelines when mounting servos.  One mount them as high in the hull as possible (there may be stability issues for small ships).  Two mount them upside down where possible.  Three mount them so they are easily removed.  Nothing should ever be glued to a servo.  Instead if you have a switch or valve you need to operate with a servo build a bracket out of plywood or foamed PVC that will hold the servo and the switch/valve it will be operating.  That way the servo can be removed and replaced without having to remove any switches or valves.  If you use soft wood for your servo supports I recommend using brass threaded inserts and a #6-32 screw to attach your servos to your mounting bracket.
